Newbie here from The USA. 1st time owner of a Subaru
Didn't see an intro thread so I hope this will do.
Well after being in the Honda scene from 1997 my wife and I decided we needed a nice everday car, and in the future a familycar. So as newly weds we decided to make our 1st huge purchase and get a brand new 2011 World Rally Blue STI.
I hope my stay here will be good and not like a typical Honda forum

Thanks. From Buffalo NY. I am very new to the Subaru platform. I've been dealing with Honda's since 1997 and know them in and out. I hope to gain some knowledge on here along with other Subie sites for our Subaru

Thanks. Trying to. Very different from a Honda. Very different from a turoboed Honda as well. Needing to teach the wife how to drive this as well, but will teach her on the civic before driving this beast

Welcome mate, I know where youre coming from as I spent the last 7 years with Mazda MX6's then woke up and got a real car. Only thing I miss from my Mazda is the 4 wheel steering, the look on peoples faces when parking was classic.

Once again thanks. Never had the chance to experience 4 wheel steering and in all honesty never drove a Mazda. When I drive the subie it feels great to feel the accelaration and over take someone, especially this USDM muscle junk over here

Thanks lads. You guys over there get better stuff than we do over here. I seen that Cosworth STI in Belfast and that is a BEAST compared to the crap we get here! Will be looking for bits for the sti from over there that we cant get here so I hope some people can help me out.

fair play maybe its the light but thats one of the cleanest, fresh looking blue imprezas I've seen in a while........
enjoy every minute of it bud........and as for parts etc, you may not have to look too far.......the US have a growing number of tuning elements that are seen in high powered imprezas over this side of the pond........things like billet turbo's came from blouch who are US.......the US cosworth side of things are also developing some good things........and even my WRC drive shafts are from the US.........speak to a few on here as some guys get parts from the US and can help you source them............. you may find yourself getting them cheaper than what we can get them for........
welcome to subaru ownership

Dead on mate. Will not be looking for too much preformance upgrades as the wife has made that clear already! Mostly will be looking for some exterior enhacments that we do not get here like the boot wing, visors and such. I think the 305 hp that it comes from factory is sufficient for a family car. Obviously will get some suspension upgrades but that is down the road. Don't want to upset the wife too much! Are there headlight protectors offered my style STI?

Dead on mate. I like the abreviation! Trust me I will probably cry as well when it comes to filling up. MY sister who just bought a brand new WRX says she paid 50 USD to top off!?

I actually just LOL with this comment. I can only wish mate. In all honesty I just want to enjoy this car as I have 3 civic's that are still in a current build. One is a all carbon fibre EK hatch with a JDM spec GSR motor with GT35r turbo, other is a EK4 clone with a K24 build, and the next is a EG6 clone with a b18c USDM spec GSR motor
