Default green panel filter gains ?

Hi guys,
My local garage has just replaced my green panel filter for a standard one as it was knackered. I have a 2005 wrx re-mapped to around 280 bhp, will I notice the difference by buying another green panel filter ?
Thanks.

Panel filters won't really make any difference below 350 bhp so too be honest nothing, maybe a big of induction noise

At least that saves me some money, it'll go towards my rear shocks.

Usually one of the first things you're told to replace when going for any power upgrades but no idea if it adds any power or just allows better mapping.

This was my worry as it's been mapped with the green panel filter.

How was it knackered? Most have a lifetime warranty on them and just need cleaning and re-oiling.

If fitting one wasnt necessary then why would they be recommended by Andy Forest, RCM etc? They are a free flowing filter so fitting a standard filter will restrict the airflow that the car was mapped on.

Pannel filters are normally included in a first stage tune, first stage for me would be full decat, pannel filter and remap. Also no pannel filter i ever heard made any induction noise.

I`d personally put one back in as they allow a bit more air flow and seeing as its been mapped with one it would be sensible to replace it and for the sake of £30 its cheaper than any repairs required if it did do any damage, A small risk granted but thats just me.

I thought it was strange going after 3 years but garage said it was that bad it could have gone in the engine and knackered it. I've binned it now, but should have checked with scooby world if the guarantee was for life. I think I'll replace as said to suit the original re-map.

sounds like BS to me mate, they are usually made of a gauze so cannot fall apart. K n N filters are guaranteed for a million miles. I reckon the garage is just trying to do you for a new filter.

yeah always use a good filter if poss,,make's a bit of difference. Mine was a tad dirty before a map tweak, after a free filter clean at scooby clinic, my car made another 3 bhp on the rollers.not much but it all count's..
