Exclamation

Drove from London to Brum along the M40 today - going with the flow (as you do).

However, between Banbury and Gaydon, there was a metro parked on the hard shoulder in front of a P-reg Volvo estate with blue rear strobes a-flashing.

Further North, on the South-bound Warwick sliproad was a light (silver?) Mondeo type car trying to reverse back up the hard-shoulder with alternate flashing rear brake lights.

Still further North, was a fully marked Volvo on the HS, behind a goods vehicle.

Maybe there is some kind of safety campaign going on? However, they seemed to ignore the Centre Lane Owners Club members, or the "drive in heavy spray with no lights" squadron, or the "rear view mirror, what is one of them" posse.

Be careful on the M40, the (speed) enforcers are in force!

I saw a Vitara with alternating rear light lights today, it was shortly after I'd put a new rear bumper on it, damn electrics!

Unhappy

Something on the radio news this morning, about the Motorway Accident Prevention Squad (Which I'd never heard of), extending their operations from M5/M6 Birmingham into M5 Worcestershire...

Sounds like more bloody Kojaks with Kodaks!

Surely they should be named:

Cops Attempt Speeding Halt or CASH for short!

Lots of "Watch your speed" messages on the M40 matrix boards at the moment. Judging by the number of rear-end shunts every time it rains, I think "Look where you're going" would be more appropriate

Boomer,

I think there was an accident there earlier today. Heard it on Radio 1 traffic report - about a traffic accident on motorway near Banbury.

Could be wrong though.

Cheers,
Tom

Angry

DavidRB,

they had the same patronising, "WATCH YOUR SPEED" messages on the info-boards on the M42 on Sunday. Sunny weather, dry road, light traffic (mostly doing 80+mph), but some "do gooder" felt that it was important for all drivers to fix their gaze on the speedo!

The local radio this morning talked about the various West Midlands Police forces having another clamp-down - sadly on motorways (and not outside schools, in residential areas, real accident black-spots etc.).

Anyone know what qualifications are required to be a traffic cop? Sounds like it will be a major employment area in the near future
