Default Stock STI with Stage 1 Performace Pack or PPP?

Hey guys, still pretty new here but have been viewing these forums for well over a year without actually registering an account; information on here is fantastic!

Will be buying a hawkeye in the first few months of the new year and trying to find out as much as I can about everything.

Just a question really and some advice which I would like.... would you recommend buying a fairly standard STI and then taking it down to Scoobyworld for the Stage 1 Performace Pack + ECUmap for about £1000 or simply buy an STI with the Prodrive Pack? ...Personally with my little knowledge about scoobs, the first option would be better/higher quality/cheaper/and faster/more efficient?

Cheers!

If your going to add a few bits like exhaust, filter and mapping then there is no point paying the extra for a PPP car.

A newmap is gonna cost about £500 and fuel pump about £80? I've noticed on pistoneheads/fleabay/autotrader that people selling STI's with the PPP price their cars at about an extra £1000 so if I was going to get it mapped as well, that's gonna be technically £1500+ as compared to a stock and then getting the scoobyworld stage 1 pack?

EDIT: Just noticed your reply Matty, yeah that's what I thought

A decent fuel pump will be around 130-150, I wouldnt touch the walbro ones with a barge pole tbh.
The PPP will come with a sports cat, they run a nice 320ps (316bhp) on the 2.5ltr engines, these are not the best engines in the world for tuning, they can be quite restricted due to the pistons and rods (and HG issues on earlier cars, though as its a 2.5 it can suffer these the more you tune it).
What sort of power are you looking for?

Well I was thinking of 330bhp maximum, I wouldn't see myself ever going above that to be honest.

I was thinking of getting the Stage 1 performace pack from Scoobyworld which consists of a new ECUmap (and registration), Walbro peformance 255lph fuel pump, widemouth performance de-cat downpipe, High flow performance panel filter, and afterburner vortex exhaust all fitted and setup for £1139 and should get about 320bhp-330bhp compared to the stock 270bhp...

...Or ofcourse the other option which is paying extra for the PPP and then ECUmap for another £500ish.

I've had 2 cars with PPP, their performance varied massively. The first felt urgent in its power delivery compared to the second car. The secondcar went on to be decatted and remapped, fuel pump upgraded. The jump over PPP in the way the car delivered its power was huge. I'd get a standardish STI, andgo aftermarket. That way you can go for a "proper" STI from the JDM

I cant remember if it does or doesnt now

Judging from what Ive read and researched, the PPP seems a more expensive option for not as much gain/power in the car compared to a stock car, and then buying the mods seperatly or a performace package from scoobyworld, etc. But hey! what would I know!?

Hawk STi PPP bits as above.

Second hand the PPP isn't worth much........ so I'd spend the £1000 you would on a stage 1 and get a better base STi with PPP (if thet makes sense?)

Yea I suppose so, thats what I was originally planning on doing, but some people selling their cars with PPP already fitted charge too much imo so I think Ive now decided Im going to get a stock and then upgrade it with the stage 1 power pack which works out cheaper.

Cheers for help

or whatever it is that JGM provides, his rep is very good and his name pops up time after time. UNLESS there is someone local to Chester that provides as good a service?

so, from what i understand (and its not much ) PPP car mods and a £500ish remap should see around 350-340 safe BHP? plus the gazillion torques the 2.5 provides
