Default Quick question regarding oil change.

Going to be doing an oil and oil filter change later today, (millers fully synthetic 10W40 and HKS filter as always).

Question is,-
Should I warm the car up first before draining the oil. Never warmed her up prior to changing before but someone mentioned this to me the other day.
Any thoughts from you guys.

Thanks,
Matt.

Just makes it more runnier and easier to drain

Warming the oil before a change is a must. As above it makes it nice and thin and gets more of it out of the engine. Caution though don't get it too hot!

Cheers lads.

All done now, thought the sump had a slight seep but after further investigation it was all good.

I always try and change the oil every 3 months regardless of miles covered (in the last 12 months I've done 2K, lol). This change was a little overdue, should of done it at the beginning of October but hey ho, it's done now.
Couldn't believe how black the oil was though. It's not even 5 months old and has done **** all miles.
And yep, filled filter first and removed crank sensor to get pressure up.

I normally take the car for a run, by the time I get it jacked up, get my stuff sorted and make a brew it's cool enough to drain without scalding my hands, but throw some latex gloves on anyway

You don't need to remove the crank sensor, just run a lead from the starter (making sure the ignition is off) to the battery and hey presto, it cranks, builds up oil pressure and throws no fault code

That's just the way I've always done it JonMC. Never get any CEL or fault codes.
Guessing because I'm using Motec management.
Plus by turning it over with the CS out you can watch for when the oil pressure lights goes out on the dash.
