Default knocking rear shocks + kyb ultra golds

I was going to replace by knocking rear shocks with kyb ultra golds bought from camskill. Is it okay to have these on the rear and just the standard ones on the front that dont knock??

Cheers Chris

You can have them rebuilt for £100. Buying another set of standard shocks will plant you in the same position in a short time.
The knocking is caused by the grease solidifying in the strut housing. The actual shock absorber is often fine,it just needs lubricating within the housing. If you are in the Northof England, I can recommend a specialist.

I got them stripped down and regreased and still there unfortunately. These kyb golds are an uprated version of the ones that are in the car

The regreasing did help and when my mechanic stripped them down he said it was like blue blood that poured out.

The knock now is more like a hard thud under the rear wheels when you hit like a small pothole or bumpy ground. Its soooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying

My car has kyb ultra golds on the back and standard on the front, can't say it causes any issues, depends how good your fronts are. Only big no no with suspension is changing one side but changing in pairs is fine

Have exactly the same problem on my 2005 blob - knocking rear passenger side and have to say its ruining the enjoyment off the car just now and will have to be changed early in the new year, also looking for ideal solutions - if rebuilding them does not help then guess its going to have to be a new set off rear - argh !!

anyone else had them rebuilt and it did not work long term ie. knocking soon returned ?
£100 would this be for rebuilding both rear ??

This is for a pair. Subaru charge a shocking price for these over double. Dont think its worth it getting them regreased when they can still knock
