Terminology Simplified?

Terminology Simplified?
Hello,
Returning to this forum after a while away i'm blown away by the different terminology used, the different models and special editions of impreza, the different block's IE Closed Deck CDB, EJ20, 2.1, EJ257 etc etc etc.
I just wondered if there was a thread that explains all the differences and references to all the different phrases.
I mean i'm obviously no expert, and if these phrases confuse me then they must confuse others too.
I bet a lot of people are scared to ask, not that this isn't a friendly community.
So i'll ask, put myself out there a bit and ask a few questions....make a few statements and stand back see if i'm shot down in flames and hopefully it will be explained where i'm wrong.
If different bits of useless information is added I'll put it all together.....
So here goes......

There's literally hundreds of Imprezas. I doubt you'll get a thread with all models listed with pictures. There is a thread with the majority of the models though.
NASIOC have a pretty good Wiki;

As do ISN but it seems to be down right now.

As far as major revisions go (in terms of looks anyway) you forgot about our dear friend the bug. Trouble starts with all the variants and the worsens with non uk spec (ie JDM).
Is there any area of knowledge you are after in particular?
As you said, most people seem really friendly and happy to help on here.
Good luck
