Mine are held on with double sided tape, have been for months now and had no issues.

And no, just a fine for illegal sized plates.

The sticky pads are foam and come in different thicknesses so you can use thicker or thinner pads as necessary.

I've used the sticky back pads and as long as the surface is clean when you put them on they will stick really well.

I prefer to screw them on. Just takes a little longer if someone wants to knick them.

If you get good double-sided tape it will last forever, but avoid the cheap stuff as it will let you down.

As for the letter size... If it's a UK-spec car you must have the correct size and font style or you risk a £30 fine. If it's a JDM-spec car you can use a smaller letter size to allow you to use a JDM-sized number plate, 330mm x 165mm.
