Default Busy day 'improving' my WRX

So I was bored today waiting in for all my new audio to be delivered by Royal Fail, thought I would have a go at 'tidying up' my front and rear lights, I bought 2 sets of 'ultra' chromed bulbs for the front and rears, rears were a very easy swap over, no more rear fried egg look

Fronts came off and one by one went in to the oven, I then split the lenses off, removed the orange panel, heated both lights back up to melt the sealant again, laid a fresh bead of clear mastic around the insides of the lamps then resealed, it looks so much more fresh in my opinion and updated to have the orange lenses removed and are fully water tight too.

A quick dinner then back to it as the postman finally came with some goodies,
Alpine CDA117RI head unit
Apline CHA S624 6 cd changer(eBay bargain)
Parrot CK3100 Handsfree
Forester folding din pocket

All fitted in with a bit of swearing for good measure, looks great, sounds awesome, very pleased indeed

Thoughts or opinions welcomed as always, Jeff

I did mine last week and didn't bother with fresh silicon. When I separated the lenses I pulled them more or less directly away from each other so none of the old silicon was removed. Then heated them again before fitting back together.

Stereo looks good. Don't know if yours is the same or not but I also have an Alpine head unit and you may be able to change the colour of the buttons. Mine has a few setting one of which is green and makes it blend in nicely giving a more OEM look.

The new bead is not totally needed but I didn't want to risk having to take them off again if they steamed up so just did hhe job right first time

Got the din pocket direct from Subaru, they are about £31

To fit it to single din I needed an USO adapter and a make to female aerial adapter to fit the alpine

I can change the colours but prefer it like it is, looks nice and not too out of place

After the rest of the audio install today here's a new boot shot,
Left is the cd changer and then the sub on the right with the amp on the right of that all but hidden out of sight

So new HU, sub, amp, changer and parrot installed, what a difference, set with the equaliser for sound clarity and a quality sound rather than LOUD NOISES

The picture of the newer controls is from a 2005 Blob as you have stated. We got the Hawkeye interior and a few extra bits lol. They normally do them to shift the cars as everyone waits for the newer model when buying them new.

Scooby Dooney Doo, is your car definitely a 2005 car? Is your boot lid lock rectangular or round?

I thnik but not 100% sure you can have the rectangle boot lock but have the older interior. The boot lock was changed at 2003 or 53 plates. The newer interior I think was on 55 plates unless you have a car that was made earlier and not registered till later then it might not have the newer interior.

Rez are those the speedo cluster clocks that you add on to change the ligh colours etc. Was thinking of getting them, have you got anypics at night when it has the lights on. How hard were they to fit mate.

Nice set-up, personally I would have gone for the Alpine Bluetooth adapter instead of the separate Parrot thing as it would have been a cleaner install?

Surely a record stores music and a cd is also a noise storing device
