They were a fair bit heavier than that, your talking under 1200kg though, in the high 1100kg's, will have to find the exact figures.

Hi guys, ive got a 96 type ra and it weighs 1150kg, thats with 1/4 tank of
fuel and a full omp roll cage!! No rear seats or sound proofing though!!

It does weigh that, its been corner weighted on a set of very accurate scales. But it does have things like different suspension, fully plumbed in fire system, bigger brakes, 17" wheels etc etc.
Are these figures given dry weights or not? Alot of figures given by manufactures when they are claiming light weights will be dry, no fuel water, or oils etc.

so in theory if your guy above had only 1/4 tank fuel, yes he has a cage that adds weight but no sound proofing and rear seats removed then he is more than likely right
