Some type R's have a 555 interior but they are different to the 4 & 5 door 555's that had no build number associated with the chassis but there were 500 4 doors built (I think) and 100 5 doors. All genuine 555's have a roof flap and they came in 53c blue. STI v-limited's look the same and I don't know if there are any differences but they made 1000 of those and they are numbered.
What's the story behind the car pictured above?

I would say that the car in the picture is a 555. Can't quite see the rear door handles but these could of been filled, deffinately not a 2 door shell.
It's worth £250 all day long though, I'd happily pay that right now if it was closer to home.
Also, the V3 type R that some call a 555 in my eyes is not a true 555. The only proper ones are the V2 saloon and wagon.

Oi, watch it, my type r is a 555.
And might be persuaded to part with the shell as i'm breaking it but it will cost a damm sight more than £250, might keep it though as it's had a slight knock
on the front which will devalue the shell.
so may store the bare shell till happier times and build a carbon monster lol, me and my pipe dreams.

What is the applied model code out of interest, is it GC8D2DD ?

See post 14 It doesn't really matter though to be honest, they are the same cars from I can work out apart from one is numbered and one isn't. I thought the v-limited would have the dccd or something but they don't. I don't know what's different but to be honest I would have been better of using something like that as a base for mine than a 555

The V-Limited was based on a STI type RA whereas the 555 was based on a STI V2.
The V-Limited would of had shorter gear ratios and DCCD. Gearbox code - VB4CA compared to yours which would of been - VB4AA
Think that's it anyway, plus the all the normal RA bits and bobs ofcourse.

What we know though is that it had panels from a v-limited (different shade of 53c) so maybe it was a 555 and the guy thought it was a v-limited from the badge on the boot (which was from another car ) There was no internal number only a badge on the bootlid and that didn't relate to the age of the car maybe that explains why it confused me.
