does anyone else get the elderly people (sometimes not elderly people) doing the waiving hand thing if you come through a village above the speed limit. you know the old waiving of the hand, saying "Slow down!!!", comon i know people must have experienced this! it cracks me up and i just flick them most of the time for the crack..

i just think its jokes though, they just sort of stop dead on the pavement where i am, and start waving to the ground saying "slllowww dooowwnnn", but its like "why would i slow down, i know what speed im doing???" i dont get how they think that would stop anyone, let alone me? lol i think its hilarious tbh! lol i do boot it after they say it just because i have a de-cat race pipe and i know it will scare them lol

Then there is the middle-aged power freak with the hi-vis and a clip board soon to be running for councilor.
I wouldn't speed in residential areas or past schools ect and people who do need to be stopped but it's always the same type of person waving their hands at people because in their opinion you're not fitting in to their way of life.
Speeding, loud exhaust, not keeping your front lawn trimmed ect. I lived in a village once and if you drive anything other than a conservative colour Micra you will be the village target

Im all for doing the limit through villages and towns etc round this way there is a high chance of being pulled out on and then whos laughing, certainly not me with a smashed front end.
I dont like the oldies who come up and tell me my car is to noisy (its not even that loud compaired to my classic) but then if a TVR or other generic old sports car came along twice as loud they would adore the car.
Seems to be a trend round here of everyone doine 35 in a 60 limit as well and when i overtake they flash me and/or leave full beams on.
i'm not being funny but if people from abroad can come over here on holiday and drive at the speed limit and following the signs provided what does that say about us as 95% of UK drivers i come into contact with on a daily basis cannot.
Then on the other hand you get people trying to race when its not possible for example, i entered a roundabout the other day i took the second exit into a 60 mph and everyone was doing around 40, before i knew it i had a Impreza WRX wagon tailgating me and trying to overtake (no overtake area due to blind hill) i half considered letting him hit the rear of my car as i need a scuff repairing
i know im going slightly off topic with the question but it all comes down to motoring i guess.
in case your wondering what i would do if i got waved at, i would stop and ask them to explain themselves not play into their hands and give them what they want

agree, i slow down for schools, housing estates, horses, anywhere built up where theres lots of people, also overtaking with consideration, no blind corners etc etc i mean we all know when and when not to put the foot down, if you dont i think your thick, although there are some stupid drivers out there! lol ive seen some people overtake in slow cars on corners and im just biting my tongue thinking fukc me, he isnt gunna make it, and its not that its when they do that but overtake in like 4th and struggle to overtake because they didnt initiate the right gear before attempting the overtake!! idiot! lol

Drive an impreza and they automatically think you're driving too fast One of my neighbours is an absolute tosser and he stopped me driving my sister's Impreza about 18 months ago and told me he was going to call the police and get Impreza's banned from our road For the record I was driving down the street at 10mph and the ***** in my area come through at 50mph in their saxo's etc

I have similar problems in my area, most of the locals are older people, they seem to hear a loud car coming down the road and immediately think your a young boy racer ripping up their streets.
They wave all sorts at you, hand signals telling you to slow down, waving zimmer frames, or the newest one, is to take a camera out and start taking pictures of you or filming you, of course everytime they done this with me i was bang on the speed limit or maybe 1 or 2 over, so I dont really know what they are set to achieve?
Old people tend to forget they only live on the road, they dont own it despite how many world wars they fought in.

Yeah we must look like fast cars
I've had it and politely pulled over and had a chat explaining I was doing 20 mph.
And maybe they should leave policing the streets to the police.
I wasn't being funny or sarcastic but I still got the **** eye lol
Old Irish saying" never take an eijet with ya, one will be waiting when you get their "

I dont speed through villages and built up areas but have been given the slow down wave anyway I think they just see the car and expect you to be speeding I do 30 in built up areas as you never know when a kid is comming out after a ball etc and its not worth it.
on back roads diferent thing no speeding but dont half get a move on if you know what i mean
