That's a wide margin of power you've specified, you need to be more specific about your aspirations for people to recommend the optimal turbo. Just taking the SC range as an example, If you want 400 hp, then the SC 40 would d. If you want 450 hp then the SC 46 would be optimal. If you want 500 hp then you'd need to go for the SC50.
Ideally, you want the smallest turbo that will meet your power aspirations to ensure that you get the best response. There is no point in getting a larger turbo than you need then running it well below its capacity, as you won't be exploiting the benefits of a large turbo, but you will be getting the disadvantages i.e. higher boost threshold and more lag.

enginetuner's S206 - or S205?; can't remember - was always touted as a "400-500bhp" turbo. So not sure how laggy it would be running at just 400?!?
Of course, any turbo capable of 500 can also run anything below that - mapper just has to lower the boost/retard the timing lots. But it would be an unnecessary lagatron running at the lower power level(!)
Why would you opt for such a 'strategy'?

dont trust ant unit from Ebay mate! why dont you find a turbo that is rated to early/ mid 400hp and run it with meth?? that way you will see 450+ and also has i very responsive setup with the added bonus of not having to worry about det etc.

If you want 400-450 the SC46 is very nice, if however you want 450-500 the S206 Billet ticks all the boxes.

It is much more common to run a bit of meth and reasonable boost, but 500bhp has been seen on Vpower with head work and decent boost on more than one occasion.
I have a couple of graphs for the new Billet unit and I'll post them when I get in the office later this morning.
