why make a gasket like this?

Default why make a gasket like this?

when i was having my clutch fitted took downpipe off and found this gasket,
downpipe is aftermarket open mouth with sports cat

The original downpipe had only one side of the entrance open (if you know what I mean) that mirrors that gasket. The downpipe really defeats the object and must be soooooo restrictive.

well my engine management light was on! and the car didnt feel right now engine light is off and feels soo much better!
