2005 blob wrx clutch help
Is there any testing things I can do to confirm if my clutch is going or not, I suspect it is because
The clutch biting point is almost all the way out, with about 15-25 mm of biting range
Today when slowly driving up curbs (standard height) when parking I'm getting a clutch smell,
Dipping clutch and slowly driving up the steep ramps on a multi storey car park also left me with a clutch smell
But, the car seems to still drive well, clamps on hard and from slow speed in first you can boot it and it takes off fine, also if revs are built up slowly to 2500-3000 revs and boot it, the car just squats and goes, I do not launch the car from standing
Anyone any ideas? Any tests I can do before forking out £200 on a replacement oem exedy clutch or £305 for an organic fast road exedy clutch?
Thanks
Jeff

Where are you in the north west mate?
I am no expert with scoobs, but am qualified ( vauxhall factory trained), would be prepared to have a look at it for you, but would need to get it just over the border into north wales, only about 5 miles from chester

If clutch appears to function o.k & you still get the 'clutch smell', jack the car up & make sure all four wheels rotate freely. You may have a binding brake caliper problem, you'l get the same burning smell.

I really am grateful for your offer on that pal, I'm based near st Helen's, between Manchester & Liverpool, border to Wales is roughly 75-85 miles, possibly a bit far to be going if it's a chance of failing but thanks
Funny you should mention about brakes, as I changed the disks and pads earlier last week but that would surely make the smell all the time? And more as I travel fast, this is only when going slow with slow speed manoeuvres

If it's not slipping at high torque at a moderate speed on WOT then I don't see the problem.
I get a clutch smell getting my Bug around the Multi storey car park in Newcastle when I have to visit.

Just never had it in 9 months, was concerned my baby is breaking
Just wanted to know if there was anything wrong really,
Is there any way of adjusting the bite to more central in the pedal rather than when it's nearly all out?

I'm affraid there is no adjustrment as far as I know as it's a hydraulic clutch system not cable opperated.
Had the same problem on a mates scoob, turned out to be a seized front caliper piston, was fine on a run, but binding on on shorter slower speed journeys.
Worth checking, I'd say.

Adjusted the biting point of the clutch and it seems much better, but still getting a bit of smell, not as much tho
How do you fix a sticking brake piston if it's that ?
