Simtek Owners - How Do You Feel About The New Simtek ECU?
Having contributed to a thread in the General Technical forum only to see it removed, and any debate by default removed I thought I would start this thread to see what other Simtek owners are thinking.
Personally I do feel that the new Simtek is a worthy alternative to the Syvecs offering and it appears to be very favourably priced as well, BUT this now raises some very poignant points (for me anyway):
1. It is a real shame that the features that were always on the horizon such as knock control and a few others will never now probably see the light of day.
2. Let's be totally honest this is going to affect the price that the units currently fitted in our cars can be sold for second hand, so as some owners do upgrade how will this affect the used resale value?
I have left some other points off in order to allow others to post their thoughts but the two points above have struck me.
I would imagine that some current Simtek owners will quite happily stay with what they have as it functions as they want, but there are others who have stuck with the current Simtek as they have been waiting for the features to be added which have been on the horizon.
This is meant for debate and please don't turn it into a slanging match.

Tend to agree. Ive been waiting and hopeing for an upgraded software version with knock control etc. Doubt that will ever happen now. Im sure the new kit is great. It would be nice if exsiting simtek customers were offered some form of upgrade maybe discounted rather than forgotton.

Well im very dissapointed, i wasnt expecting miracles, but i was waiting/ hoping for a few feature updates. Only my opinion but i cant see the resale value being anything but dismal.. and the 2nd hand demand even more dismal

No problem, to be honest I didn't think that you had asked for it to be removed for 1 second. I thought I would post this thread so that any debate could take place away from the Trader's Marketplace.

As mentioned previously im happy with my simtek works perfectly apart from no knock control was thinking of getting the LC added on my next map in a few months time so everything i need right now .
I know development is a big factor as with pc's and tv's also phones you just cant keep up so whats new about a cars ecu ? nothing this will always happen as we move forward ,yes second hand price now will drop but thats the same as any other aftermarket ecu just like the apexi before it etc...

Seeing that this is a thread about the Simtek Range, can we have an update on what is available in terms of upgrades or some might argue patches for the old simtek.

And as the ESC know all too well, threads can just be there one minute and gone the next.

As a current Simtek owner I'm a bit disappointed as it seems that we've been dumped in favour of the new ecu with regards to any new updates. If I do change ecu in the future I dont think I'll have another Simtek. For me it smacks of got your money not bothered about you. Poor, very poor.

Personally I think it was moved into a none members section (which do exist on here) or deleted as the thread might have been classed as an advertising feature which should have been in the Trader's Marketplace.

^ @Anger I am thinking the same, albeit the price to cash out of simtek has now risen due to a lower return for selling my existing unit !
So what is available in terms of upgrades or some might argue patches for the old simtek, that were promised for the last 2+ years ? I bought my Simtek in March 2008, initially mapped by a ******** and subsequently remapped by a legend but still not aware of the proper updates that were promised ?
