ecu with ecutek licence
Hi, i have a ecu taken from a 2002 bugeye which has had an ecutek licence paid for on it, this can be mapped by any mapper. £150 delivered if any interests cheers

it can only be map tweeked by the original mapper, any other mapper will have to write a map from scratch.
What youre selling is the ecutek license, which is £150 anyway so theres not many people who'll buy it unless you know who mapped it originally. Only way someone will save £ is for them to have it tweeked by the original mapper.
2002 ecu can also be done open source, which is cheaper as you only pay for mapping time.

if it has an ecutek licence on it i thought any mapper with ecutek software can adjust the map or tweak it when new mods are done, but maybe with it being installed on a different car it would need a new full map for that car done on it

open source 250/350 and yes i know you get what you pay for.

Ecutek mapping is usually £550. £150 license and 2.5 hours mapping time.
Ecutek maps are locked to the original mapper, another mapper cannot read the map so it can only be tweeked by the original mapper or has to be written from scratch by someone else (around £350).
£950 for an ecutek map is waaaaay over the top, unless it needed about 5 hours mapping or you had parts fitted as well.

If you are prepared to spend time reading, logging and chatting to knowledgeable guys, you get quite a lot for your money, especially if you go down the Tactrix route yourself. I have and when you have guys willing to give you a little time to help you in the right direction, Im glad I did. I can now add mods and make changes as and when I want to rather than paying £550 up front and £150 a map afterwards (not a knock at the mappers btw, this is their bread and butter and it all costs, I just chose to try something different for myself only)

New to all this so may be a bit of a daft question, but what's all this ecutek licence fee stuff all about, coming from the VAG family currently, thats just a case of finding someone who will cater to your need and not a bad price, the top banana mappers only charge around £350. How come the scoob's are so expensive, are they pretty difficult to map?
