You should be using screen wash, not just water.
Although it depends on what temperature its rated to - the halfords pink stuff is OK to about to -4

Didn't know they do heated ones on any car.

Saying that, i'd expect Foresters to have them, as they have heated wipers (or a heated section of glass for the wipers on the screen), so its pointless if you can't get your screen wash out.

comma -23 screen wash without dilute, so 50-50 for these temps and no issues with freezing washer jets

The "blue crap" as you put it not only stops the jets freezing, it also help clean the windscreen better than just water.

I hope you put the other "blue crap" in your rad?

Even heated washer jets would do any good? Surely the pipes/everything else would be frozen?

ROFL you aren't driving it hard enough. Heat from the engine should keep them frost free. Just don't turn it off when sleeping on a bag of white fluffy stuff. Classics never freeze with reservoir in engine bay but these new fangled things with reservoir under wing are a pain. Even the -20C blue stuff froze on me last year.

Spot on, my last car and the wifes current one have heated water jets.... doesn't stop the fluid in the pipes or bottle freezing. Complete waste of time, as said best to just use a more concentrated screen wash/water mix.

Lol thanks, I'll go buy some then I thought as much just didn't wanna get ripped off buying blue water, I have to admit it doesn't happen that much and after a few miles on m1 it does indeed unblock, but I should really stop being a tight wad and buy some , just why change a 20 year old habit.

Ok I,ll change my plea Subaru can we have back wipers please cos the yanks have em so why not us hehe
