as subject...
had a quick look behind the panel and the electric motor is not working basically..
kinda worrying as I have been driving around with the boot unlocked for weeks leaving car parked in dodgy areas without knowing there was a prob... anyway..
probably the motor gone but just in case someone knows is there something that goes often with this that I should check first?

I had this problem with my previous MY95 Wagon. The wiring loom had various faults over the years where it comes out the body into the hatch. Probably been strained at some point. I think you can still lock it manually from memory.

I've had this problem for ages. I worked out the electric motor was fine and have been looking for the problem in the wiring loom, but I can't find a break, anyone know what colour the wire is? I gave up in the end and have tom use the key, mines a 95 wagon too.

just noticed that mine unlocks on the central locking but doesn't lock... most helpful... mean I now have to lock the boot everytime I lock the car... I shall be disconnecting the motor and investigating...
when I get time. Or infact I might take it back to the dealers I bought it from as it has 6months warrentee.. probably manage to wriggle out of it some how

Later- sorted the problem found the broken wire behind the rubber gromet between boot lid and roof. Had to extend the wire as it was shorter than the rest of it's mates - think it was green/yellow.
