Importing car's from Japan
Hi,
Thinking of importing a car direct from Japan, wondering if anybody on here has done this, if so wondering if they can offer advice and recommendations, any hidden costs I should be aware of etc...
Thanks in advance
Mark

Hi Pete not to bad mate, you? toying with another Legacy, but an estate this time probably the same vintage as before, not as keen on the more recent versions, the latest is fugly
Not keen on paying the overly inflated UK prices, when you can buy in Japan for 3K just trying to see if it's worth my while...

Just concerned that there may be hidden costs when I get it here, aware of SVA mods required and the obvious delimiting and VAT

Here is an example, a JDM 2005 reg hawk sells for 1600000 yen, the exchange rate at the moment is £1 = 82 yen, convert that and you are looking at £19,300, thats just the cost before anything from the auction, you then have handling fee's, shipping, registration etc, these go for around 13-15k over here for a good one.

I remember... been nearly 4 years since the B4, and Yvette's Forester was written off recently (thanks to a 10 day old Merc hitting her in the rear), so need something big, Practical and nice to drive, so can think of nothing other then a GTB

if the car is under 10 years old it will need an sva, dvla will charge you 55 quid plus road tax the register it. you need customs and excise forms and a shiiper (get the jap export cert for the car too)
