WRX gearbox's TY54VN2AA & TY54VN1AA
Hiya gents this is my first thread.. Ive got a uk 51 reg WRX bugeye and had suspected front diff noise issues with a TY54VN2AA box. When I sourced a replacement box which was advertised as a TY54VN2AA a TY54VN1AA box arrived from an 02 reg WRX. I've been doing some research and reading through endless threads on here to find out if it will just drop straight in or am I going to have rear diff issues? Seems the gears/syncro's are the same for a 1AA and 2AA but just wanted your opinion. Cheers in advance, thanks, RJ

thanks lads. Disapointed the tranny code guide doesnt say what 1AA is. The original was from my 51 reg uk road car and the replacement is from an 02 reg uk road car. I may just fit it and see if it works out...

IT WORKED!!! for the record for anyone else with the problem. The TY754VN1AA is a direct replacement for the TY754VN2AA. they are both from 51/02 reg uk imprezas using diff 3.54. Thanks for the responses RJ

The 1AA box that I replaced the 2AA box with had been repaired at some point because its got sealer around the centre diff area. May have been repaired before it went into its previous car (the 02 WRX)
the trans chart didnt give any details about the 1AA box only 2AA so at least if anyone else has the same problem in the future gunny pig rob has already solved it lol.
Cheers for the help gents.
