A Big Thank You To Godspeed Brakes
A very big thank you to Ian Godney @ Godspeed Brakes today for all his efforts sorting out a problem with my front brakes today.
Some plum previous to my ownership had fitted AP 6 pot calipers along with Ian's front rotors (discs), bells and mounting brackets. The rotors and pads needed to be changed due to the rotors being worn out but when stripping down the brakes it became obvious that the front brake calipers weren't going anywhere.
It was at this point that it was realised that the caliper to carrier bracket bolts plus the carrier to hub bolts had been thread locked in place (and I believe the whole length of the bolts had thread lock put on them). The aforementioned bolts would not budge and it was felt that the only option was to drill them out using carbide drill bits but these would not touch the high tensile bolts, heat was attempted in conjuction with the drilling and again nothing. The lower carrier bracket bolts where it is attached to the hub also rounded off as they had also been thread locked in place.
I then contacted Ian and asked if he could take the job as he would have the necessary parts required, we then arranged to take the car in today for the work and I would collect late this afternoon.
To say it was a pig of a job would be an understatement as Ian had to cut both caliper mounting brackets off from the calipers, carefully remove the bolt remnants from the calipers and also remove rounded off bolts from the lower carrier.
Whilst the calipers were off they were checked, stripped and cleaned up as necessary, Ian also blasted the old bells and repainted them for me, and then rebuilt the front brakes. New brake hoses were fitted and the brakes were then bled out, and we were just about then ready.
I am sure that there is plenty that Ian did which I have missed out, but Ian really did go beyond what most people would think was reasonable. Ian would not go until he was thoroughly happy and knew that I was happy as well despite it being well past his normal closing time.
Anway a very big thanks to Ian and of course his son Ben who I nearly forgot about, if anyone requires any braking components then you could do far worse than get in touch with Ian Godney.

Yes Ian really did beyond and above what most people would do, I cannot thank him enough as he had to sort out someone else's incompetence.
