not ture in all cases i imported my 98 wrx 5 years ago and i took it straight on the rolling road and the figure i got was 276.3 which was bang on and it had no mods and that was a 9 year old car then it depends on how its been look after to some degree and if it has lost a bit then then it no biggy nothing you cant get back with a little bit of tunning : >

I have the 95 wrx 260ps with decat and cone induction kit it made 278.4bhp on the rollers not yet mapped tho bin on over a year and engine still sweet i dont really cane it tho and strangely cheaper to insure than the UK version i had previously

is the standard turbo an injectors on a wrx capable of running 300bhp with just remap and uprated fuel pump?would I need to but a fuel cut defender for upping boost or will the remap take care of the limiter?thanks for replys guys.

Would it be possible to add all the above and get it mapped for 95 ron and have it running 300?I'd be happy with that,I like the idea of getting it mapped so as I can get it to pop on over run too ;-)

With the mods i mentioned 310ish on 95ron would be a realistic target.. get twin maps on a simtek like me. one for 95 and one for 99 ron

Mine is a 260bhp 1995 version (preface), and my mate has the 280bhp 1997wrx (facelift).
Basically mine has 380cc injectors, TD05.
His had 440cc injectors, and VF22. All standard.

you can pick a simtek up for around £400 now, the mapping was £250 for the initial map then £50-£100 for any further tweaks,. call duncan (racedynamix) on 07540185754 as he may have some cheaper option's,

My97 / My98 WRXs are much underestimated - they make a great base car for value for money tuning.
One car with (I think) a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, front mounted intercooler and esl remap by Duncan saw a whisper under 350bhp at 1.3 bar. Fuel system limited, I believe.
They won't all make that power but it shows the potential.

95 ron - non no no...
Hi,
IMHO running 95 ron is a big no no on the 260 and 280 bhp imports, but I did run my 240bhp 94 wrx on 95 - in fact it ran better than on 97+.
Also stay away from prolonged high speed runs with a top mount and the small (std) bonnet scoop, as this is also asking for expensive engine trouble...
Still some very good imports around - many are surprisingly good if fresh, but due to the exchange rates, not as attractive as they once were. A good percentage of the dogs have been over here for a bit now and ragged around over here.
Mart.

240PS & 260PS cars will run happily enough on SUL, but the 280PS cars were intended to run on 100RON fuel, which wasnt available when Subaru made the A, B & C series cars.

I disagree. I ran a 95 wrx and UK my99 turbo with full decats for ages without remaps. Plenty opf others will agree. Admittedly if you want the most out of your mods, a remap is the done thing.
