forge dump valve is a nice sound, hks ssqv is very loud with a high pitch chirp and stay away from baileys they are rubbish and you will get told alot that the standard oem unit does its job and works fine and can hold alot of boost but you want the noise id recommend forge then
talking from experience i have run hks ssqv, forge and baileys and the hks was loudest but was annoying at times, forge is the best one with a nice but not too high pitch noise, baileys was a boring pssshhh noise and crap quality, oem one fitted made the car run and hold boost far better with no hesitation.

The Baileys DV10 which came with my car was quite loud and made an immense sound on lift-off, though the quality of the Baileys units are questionable according to quite a few folks on here.

I know you don't want to hear this but...... They are completely pointless!!! Spend your money on something else mate. But... If you just want it for the noise then fair enough. You will no doubt get sick of it... Especially driving up the motorway when you lift off that pedal for the 30000th time!! Haha

The standard dump valve is by FAR the best for the car, or another aftermarket recirculating dump valve, but no vent to air.
Unless you have the re-circulating adaptor on the HKS SSQV then I would not recommend that either. The dump valve dumps air before the turbo but after the MAF sensor so will make the car run rich if a vent to air is fitted. Possibly, only possibly causing bore wash and damage to your engine.
The standard one dumps air back into the system so corrects the problem.
That said, I had my car mapped with the HKS SSQV fitted so my ECU is corrected for the fuel problems created by the vent to air dump valve and car runs perfect.
Chances are if you fit an aftermarket dump valve it won’t cause problems, but you have been warned.
Don’t think Bailey are recommended, although I had no problems with one years ago. Get mixed results. Best do a search on this site. There is LOTS of info about dump valves already discussed at great length.

If you WANT noise and WANT to look a duck, look no further:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbNxugO-uf0
If you DON'T want to look a ****, and possibly wreck your engine to boot, stick with the one that was designed for the car, the one it runs best with, the one it came with.

had a bailey on my rs turbo, quality of the unit was fine, never had a problem with it,made a nice high pitched sound aswel.
i will be going for a split dump valve next, half re-circ,half vent.

or maybe you mention this same thing on every other thread, no doubt the standard unit is upto the task and the best however the constant scaremongering and engine failure remarks do wear thin.
I would like to see sufficient evidence to suggest how many engine failures are as a result of using an aftermarket dump valve?
I suspect in comparison the realistic amount is so insignificant it does not matter, you would better concentrating your time and efforts on advising people on using better quality fuel

If the problems are insignificvant, as you guess, wouldn't they move to a vta?

VTA bovs are sheeite!
Had a hks ssqv on my Evo IX and hated it. Made it run crap as well. Get an aftermarket re-circ if your desperate to change the oem one.

other manufacturers use recirc as standard,ie audi. doubt they would put vta on as standard as the noise wouldnt appeal to most of the market they are looking to sell to.
that isnt a reason to say vta is bad for your car.

I am not denying the standard unit is better, but the comment you make is not really a comparison.
a K&N panel filter for example, might be better then a standard unit and more free flowing but they dont fit them as standard? needless to say it does not mean a K&N filter will have a negative effect on the car.
It may well be in some cases they can cause problems and possibly overfuel/borewash etc but how many years for example have baileys dumpvalves been about? I know they are slated to high hell on here but how many genuine engine failures have there ever been to a baileys dumpvalve? compared to how many people use them (and on other marques aswell)

got this from greddy.
The Blow-off valve is essential to all turbocharged vehicles. The purpose of a Blow Off Valve is to relieve compressor surge without reducing compressor speed. It controls boost pressure that is built up by the turbo and vents it into the atmosphere when the car is not under load (in between shifts). This prevents pressure from backing up into the compressor housing, causing the turbo impeller blade to rapidly stop or even worse, to spin backwards (compressor surge or backspin). Doing so can be potentially destructive to the turbine wheel and shaft. Repeated stress over time can cause eminent damage to the turbo charger and eventually lead to turbo failure. A blowoff valve is actuated by pressure changes only, ensuring quick valve responses and complete closures at idle. a blow-off valve not only improves performance and response, but also increases the life of the turbocharger
