The rear window has the wiper built in for the jdm also uk versions had the fog light built in also on any of the above easy mapped with ecutek.

 

thanks for that,so is there any such thing as a jdm bug without tinted rear windows? and no fog covers,but with front fogs instead?
im led to believe it has dccd and has shorter gearing than the uk car,also should it be fitted with a vf34/35/30?

JDM STi has been equipped with VF30 as standard,VF34 has been only on Type RA Spec C.

No DCCD box on JDM STi,only on Spec C Type RA.

Can be easily mapped like via Open source(Rich@FB Tuning,Duncan@RaceDynamix,Neil@Slowboy racing etc.) or EcuTek

Yes shorter gearing compared to UK STi


Engine wise,JDM STI have stronger engines,hotter cams and not sure if they don't have too big port heads

JDM has 8k redline. Fuse box cover will be in Japanese. Look for rear foglight conversion. What isit that you are trying to identify?

 

Hi there not sure about the fog covers,but they have rear fog,rear wiper and what i've seen JDM STi they will come with OE 4pots usually(if its 16" model,17" models has come with Brembo),8k redline

8k rev limit and rear wash wipe is by far the easiest for JDM STI identification.

8k rev limit and no rear wash wipe and pillar ariel will indentify JDM STI SPEC C.

Failing all that get the model code off the VIN plate.

 

thanks guys,im going to look at a 02 jdm sti and just needed to clarify a few things as it dosent have tinted rear glass,or fog covers.
thats why i was wondering if it was a factory optional extra.im assuming the jdm car will have indicator stalks on the right hand side and uk on the left?

Yes, i believe the tinted rear windows are optional. It should come with fog covers, but if there are actual foglights, i guess they could've been added by a previous owner?

And yes, indicator stalks on the right.

Jdm bug sti does have fog lights , auto water spray and black carpets.

 

so the jdm sti dosent come with fog covers? was the auto spray optional,and do they come with abs?

 

Mine has abs. Factory fit fogs and no covers and as far as I know the auto spray is standard.

Some obvious differences:

JDM / EU

Redline 8000 / 7500
Speedo 180km/h / 260km/h
Intercooler spray auto / manual only
Indicator stalk right / left

Obvious when you drive them both

ps 280 / 265
nm 373 / 343
gear ratios - 1st to 4th are identical. 5th and 6th is shorter on JDM car.

There are other differences such as turbo, cams, head? etc, but i guess these are the most obvious ones.
