Default Fender Brace - Where to buy?

Evening all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a UK vendor for fender braces? Want to avoid ordering internationally if I can - 1 due to postage and import costs and 2 due to the time it takes.

Thanks,

no. these are braces that sit on the inside of the fenders, solidifying the tower to the door upright.

I only say fender as that is what the brace is called - fender brace. Its quite a popular mod in the states. If it catches on in the UK then I guess someone will start to make a wing brace

Thanks.

What's it do, then?

I thought the idea of modern cars was thay they WILL crumple to save the occupents?

Its not geared toward safety, it keeps the turret from flexing during cornering. This translates to a firmer and more positive corner entry. Meant to be pretty effective, perhaps 53 will be able to explain further as he has them fitted?

All in all, if you have a strut brace (yes, ineffective on its own) combined with these and then an H brace, there is an entire encapsulation of rigidity around the front suspension to reduce chassis flex to let the suspension do the work.

A strutbrace is ineffective on it's own?

So how come loads of people report a better feel to the car with one fitted?

Seems like a lot of effort for minimal return to me tbh if you look at the load paths, there is already a metal plate bolts across the bridge these fill.

Correct, though reports from people who installed these parts have been that there is a noticeable gain in rigidity. If you are interested, google fender brace impreza and then read about peoples opinions in the states.

if you have to strip the wing off, fit it then refit the wing i can imagine the cost is pretty high. cant see it catching on here myselfi except on race cars or rebuilt cars.

I can't see that making much difference at all to be honest. People are always gonna say they can notice the difference, they are the tools who wasted their money on it.
It's like most things, it's in your head. Your told it will help and you expect it to help so you just imagine its helping.
