I think they are into the Ford scene and I've read some mixed reviews on them, might be worth a search on PassionFord.

He is building my 2.35 at the moment. He built Bob Rawles 2.5, and also does the lateral builds. He has 20+ years experience of building F1 engines, and certainly knows his stuff! He has actually been involved with a lot of the high power subaru builds on here, he just doesn't shout about it. He built Duncan Grahams 2.35 which is running 800+.

I think he has done a lot of ford builds, and there may be some people out there who havn't been happy with his work, just like every tuner! But for me I did my research and after speaking with him, going to his house etc am very happy and chose him to do my build. In his consveratory he has the engine that David Coulthard used to win the 1997 australian gp, which he built! It's now a coffee table ala top gear style, but impressive none the less!

He did all my machining. Paul knows tones and I mean tones about scoob engines. I'm sure a load more people will come along soon with good stories.

Nice guy too, very easy to talk to and great with advice.

I'd really recommend him mate

Paul's a Cracking fella & superb at what he does. Just had another 2.5 block casing and heads away to His for machining work. Outstanding job done.

Paul Finch is one of the best about. He'd be in the top three of people I'd want to build a engine for me.

I contacted various builders, put my questions. Very happy that Finch Motorsport could, and would, build an engine to the spec I wanted.
Paul is always ready with options, and real world engineering solutions.
The shimless, bronze-wall, stainless/inconel V4 STI heads, are a thing of beauty.
I've just got to build the auto box to the same standard!

Taking the "emotion" out of it (Duncan), Paul certainly knows what he is doing and rates at the top of the list under any circumstances. He put my engine together for me and its been superb. I recommend him without hesitation. His attention to detail is meticulous you will be in very safe hands. There is only one other person in the UK to compete with that in my view. There are other companies in the Uk that I rate highly as well but there has to be a top of the list and Paul is up there.

cheers

Why have you got two Phase 1 tensioner idlers on there instead of static idlers?

Looks like a recipe for disaster if i am seeing it right!

Before you jump to conclusions, there not phase 1 tensioner idlers, there eccentric centre idlers, to correct any cam timing alignment issues from bank to bank, & work well.
What disaster do you see happening.

Looks gorgeous. Im saving up for mine to be finched

I have a question for you, may seem silly but i will ask all the same. When pining the liners does it make the engine noisy as in tappy? Ive heard of a few peeps that say there engine sounds tappety after a re-build and pining. Just wondering if the pining transfers sounds to areas of the block where it becomes more audible?

Nice observation. But if you look closely, you'll see the mounting bolts are off-centre, on those two idlers. Thanks for the concern though, but on this occasion, it's thankfully misplaced.
I thought shimless and V4 heads, in the same sentence, would provoke the interest.

Not jumped to any conclusions Paul, on my PC the picture gives the impression they are V1 Tensioner idlers. Given they are an eccentric idler was my concern, in that they would allow differing levels of tension between the RH bank and the crank, having never seen them used like that before.

If you say they work, then they work, but my mind cant picture that at the moment, without thinking it gives a variable timing situation.
