Default 2006 Spec C - Maximum Speed?

Does the Spec C have a speed limiter like some Japanese models?

If so, can it be removed?

Not that i know of. The pre 05 models were limited to 180km/h.

I've seen videos of Spec Cs breaching 250km/h.

I'm pretty sure that in 'ideal' world conditions that the top speed would be around 182mph but if it could be reached and how long it would take to reach it is a matter for debate.

You have to overcome resistance from air, tyres and lots of other variables plus the major issue is that Impreza's with TMIC's is air flow to the scoop and prolonged high speed driving.

IIRC with my Classic, the JDM models used to be limited to 180 kph but when the speedo is converted to mph the limiter effectivley becomes 180mph which should suffice.

^^ They often remove the limiter (180kmph) as part of the SVA test or whatever it is called ie when they convert the cars for the UK market.

TX.

PS re top speed, my old 447hp classic topped out at 159mph GPS verified.

With the gearing, around 170ish mph, you may find its been limited at 155mph though.

with the short gears I would of thought 165 max.

Are you sure you want to do that on the autobahn, can just see your next post coming saying you got a knocking coming from the engine

Yes, I thought air flow to the top mount i/c starts missing at the higher speeds which is when you really need it!

Need to stick tabs of wool over the bonnet to check airflow.

On a one of our trips to the WRC round in Germany, I remember Dave T commenting that his car (now yours) stopped at 161mph I think it was, according to his GPS. It was still pulling prior to that point and then it was like a limiter came in apparently.
As for my Type 20, my missus was screaming at me as we hit 150mph, so I had to back off.

Mine did the same 161 same trip it must be an Ecutech software limiter

IIRC the original was wired from speedo to ECU

Limited to 160mph then, should be plenty!

It was pretty busy yesterday so couldn't get much past 120 :-(

Mines got a limiter like that. How do you adjust it for 150?

The limiter is my missus. Try talking about gardening or shopping in the hope she doesn't notice what speed your travelling at. Lol.
