little end ?

Default little end ?

i toold my car to the garage today where they said it sounds like it has a little end rattle but i think otherwize, so a friend has agreed to lend me his garage and 4 poster ramp so i can haul the engine out and have a good look inside and replace what i need to, any advice would be appreciated as in what parts to buy and what too look out for. im going to try do this as cheap as possible ( i have only had the car a month

Take it to someone who knows these engines as they do have rattles and strange noises as standard. So could be worrying over nothing.

Tbho going about it to cheap will only end in another engine rebuild fella,if your going to do a engine overhaul then do it all so it doesn't have to be done twice and cost more than it has too!

Ive never known a small end fail, it's often mistaken for the big end, before pulling it out drain the oil through a clean cloth and check for copper shards, this would suggest big end failure.

yea i will drain the oil first, it rattles slightly at around 2-3.5 rpm but not on cold start? its an odd one. if worst comes to worst and its bottom end which i think is most likley what do i need to buy?

its a v4 sti type R btw, can i just but a v8/9 ej20 bottom end (will my manifold fit) or am i better to rebuild? cost wise...

looks like later engine to me mate , wheres your coil pack , in centre or off to one side,

mine is in the center chris, plus it could have the same problem as mine. hopefully i will get it out at the weekend and see whats up, do i buy a standard crank? rods etc?

yes it will fit and its only the bottom end, nothing to do with the manifolds ,your heads determine whether the manis will fit
