Default how to remove decals off car?

my rb5's boot decal is faded and i was going to replace it with a replacement, how do i remove the existing one without affecting any of the wax around it?

wd40, or will that mess with the wax in that area?

this is the decal i'm talking about:

wouldn't heating the area up with a hair dryer ruin the wax around it?

might do mate, didnt read that bit

Can you not just put the new one over the top of it then, i cant see another way of getting it off without heat, unless your gonna sit there for a while and try and prise it off?

Exactly as the above. WD40 can be used if you have no Autoglym.
And car shampoo if you have no meths.

I wouldnt touch it faded or not especially on a limited run model and if their still original decals. Keep it original unless you can get the complete decal kit from Subaru, all the copy decals are not the same colour as originals!

interesting point, looked at the (faded) rb5 decal and its all one piece but the prodrive stuck on the right hand side of the boot, each letter seems to be a seperate sticker and its a little raised.

now as i only have access to a single rb5 (mine!) i have no way of telling if my faded decal, is original or not.

The RB5 decal will be just that: a one piece decal like the ones on UK cars that say, "Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD". (Although mine has been replaced).

The "Prodrive" one will be laser cut vinyl. Easy to apply btw, and any decent signwriter will make you one.
It's what my Turbo 2000....sticker is now. Neater.

Try Grahame Goode for stickers, he does proper ones, you may find an RB5, or ring a del=aler for a quote.

Hot water is the best way for me, I've removed many decals using this method. You need patience as well and a gentle finger nail!

Muddy Detail did a great job of removing a decal from my old WRX's bootlid.

But I think the poor chap fell ill and had to end his business.

I also recommend hot water if you not want to ruin the wax around. If you can the use hair dryer and chemicals to maybe remove the glue leftovers

Bit harsh!!!
I used to own a RB5 and was able to match the colours and as working in a sign company full access to all colours and production methods.

We (THE RB% owners club) sell the RB5 Stickers in the club shop and they are indentical to the originals which Subaru stopped selling years ago. I wouldnt have it any other way as I'm a stickler for perfection (part of my job)!!!

Not harsh at all, i would prefer the car to be kept original thats all, and as for the OC stickers being identical!!!
