Default water leak

Hi guys, just been trying to find a water leak on my hawk, after the wonderfull weather today the passenger footwell was like a pond and as i moved the car more poured in, have noticed minor leak previously when i've washed it but this was serious.. all i could find tonight was one of the plugs that hold down the plastic trim under the wipers was missing in fairness it was the one above the glove box so potentially could be it but it seemed to be an awfull lot of water.. is there any known issues or anyone experienced this before.. cheers mark

Hmmmm.

Water ingress in front ISN'T common, and is often down to the seal of the front screen to the body having gone. A decent windscreen place will remove the rims and be able to see if the seal is any good immediately.

It could also be the heater matrix.......are you losing water? Does the water coming in taste sweet?

If not those two, check under the trim around the wipers........it CAN block up with debris and dead leaves etc, causing the drain holes to be blocked so that wyter rises above the level of the heater intake.

Pray it's the last: easy cure

With my old cavalier there was a pipe known as a sock in the plastic trim below the window screen. it was common that it would block causing water to fill over the scattle pannel and pour into the car.

First and formost park the car facing down hill so any water will run into the engine bay and not the cockpit.

Remove the plastic trim around the wipers and see if the drain holes are clear.

I also have this problem, noticed it about two days ago, I had a look at the door seal which does seem to be ok, the water seems to be trickling down between the side of the glovebox and the door.

Ive just been out to the car, and couldnt figure out how to get the trim from under the wipers off

Could anybody please advise?

hi guys, thanks for your responses, mine is defo rain water all my levels are good so not losing water, with regards to BugSti Malone's question to get the plastic trim off i removed wipers then the foam/rubber seal on bottom of plastic trim, had to squeeze plasic clips on under side of foam, then with some fiddling managed to lift the trim off.. hope this helps. mine had one of the plugs missing above the glove box. as i had so much water i've left my glove box out to monitor.. fingers crossed..
