For that price not a lot, meeting the regulations and the cheapest i know of are:

http://www.v2sport.com/index.html

I have the V2 Pro in white, all the stickers are removeable.

Not the most amazing quality in the world, but for the price and regulations, it's a good helmet.

Thanks

I also dont like them so much but for Car racing these are the best.

Arai is totally in another priceclass. When you are ready to spent it - do it! But I think in car racing the helmet is not as necessary as in bike racing so it can be a cheaper one.

Would one helmet really make that much difference guys?
I mean the rd or wall doesn't no it says aria on the side does it?
Or do these higher priced helmets have a invisible force field ?
Lol

Buy the best helmet you can afford. If I were you I'd get a proper car motorsport helmet as the view out of the visor is much better than a bike helmet. Don't buy a second hand one as you have no idea if its ever been dropped!!

If you break an arm it's no real problem. If you break your head it's a bit more serious!!

Look for helmets with SNELL aproval. It doesn't need to be an Arai, there more good manufacturers for less money like OMP, Sparco, BELL...

There are lots of quality brands out there, obviously I am biased towards Sparco because this is what I sell each day but atleast I know I am selling helmets with 30 years of development behind them and prices from only £50

Usually entry level helmets are made from ATM (no, not *** To Mouth) Advanced Thermo Material, these are usually lightweight (1100g), a bit of padding for comfort and ticks the right boxes for minimum safety. Most are ECE approved non fireproof £50

The next level should be a fibreglass construction. These are alot stronger, a bit heavier (1200-1500g), more padding, ventilation, comfort, fireproof and exceeds minimum safety. Look for BS type A/FR, SNELL2005 and SNELL2010. SNELL2010 being the latest and better standard. Prices from £199 for SNELL2010

After this you start adding carbon and kevlar for extra strength ending up with a pure carbon helmet meeting FIA8860 standard (what F1, WRC drivers have to wear). Carbon is purely for strength not weight as there is a minimum weight requirement.

Unfortunately doing what I do for a living I hear and see all the bad things that can happen when things go wrong (ask Richard Hammond). I suppose a fireman would be saying the same to those people whose house burnt down because they bought cheap batteries that didnt last as long or do the job properly when called upon

+1, not a fan of full face helmets in cars, this one has been great for the trackdays I've done. In something like an open top Caterham I might think differently, but see little point in mega money helmets in cars when a £50 OMP job is quite adequate.

Perfect for track days, much better than a full face expensive bike helmet (which I have for my bike).

I see everyones point on saftey etc, but understand this, when somebody has a car crash on normal roads, ie motorways,b roads and so on. They have not had a helmet on and most of them survive just with the normal car protection with a few cuts and bruises.
If i had a motorbike or a convertable then id be looking to spend £200 upwards for full protection (full aproved saftey inc fire risk etc).
Im not a fia or wrc driver just want to do a few trackdays a year so looking for something mid range and decent not cheap tat
I just dont justify spending that much money on a helmet for the use as above^.
p.s if our lass finds out ive spent £500 on a helmet and not on her, you figure the rest out lol
Appreciate the help from everyone though
This looks intresting though, does this one have a wide view angle for trackdays for good visability left to right cos thats what i want or should i go for a open face?
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motors...club-x1-helmet
Dont want a motorbike style one that you have to move your head around a lot for visability. Needs to be a car specific for a wide visibilty angle.
Regards

Helmets are one of the few things were the more you spend the better you get
In saftey and comfort , ive spent many many years with bikes and racing them and I can honestly say I always buy the best I can
Fit is a big overlooked factor is that a poor fitting quality helmet is as bad as a poor quality helmet
My opinion is buy the best you can afford if you can afford £500 spend it
Second make sure it's a good fit no matter what price (it will pay off in comfort and safety )
And last , buy a car specific helmet ( yes a bike would do) but like its been said bike helmets do have more restricted vision
As for the we don't wear them on the road statement
It don't wash , nothing compares to driving on track , the only limits are you and your car and some people's limits are not what they think ,
Serious incidents on car trackdays are very rare indeed , but heaven forbid if your car goes over or some turnip decides he,s gonna use you instead of his brakes ?
I know what I'd do with no hesitation at all
Please don't skimp on safety
Cheers tony

If your gonna do a fair few trackdays per year, then its worth investing in a decent lid!!
I work for Javelin trackdays and we hire them for a tenner so is it worth spending 400quid+?
