Default Which brand gauges to go for?

I have a bit of a dilema, i currently have Defis, the nice green ones in my classic, however i got them 2nd hand a while ago, and they had been swapped in and out of cars before i got them, so the wires are a bit worst for wears at the connector blocks, yesterday the wires at connector going into Control unit for oil pressure broke off and today i sorted that out, i lifted up the pod and next thing gauges flickerd and now not working, there was strands of wires exposed at the connector at back of gauge coming from unit and i think its shorted out, i have a burnt looking component on the circuit board now of the control unit and no power coming out for the gauges

Im going to try get a price for new unit and some new cables, but if its crazy money.. whats the next best gauges to look at, are the prosport lcd ones any good? or the Depo ones?..
Cheers

Hi there

Personally we have Shadow Gauges, which are spot on,looking good and price for 3 is something like £280-£320

We have before Prosport gauges which has been OK too, depends how much you are looking spend and from this i would go

This has come as a total unexpected fookn disaster, Running in a new engine at moment so the gauges are needed more than ever, with saving up for mapping i just dont have chunks of money to throw at these
Think does prosorts would be working out around 150 for 3, and thats where im at on the cost really, if i can get the defi bits to repair at or around the same i will stay with the Defis

Get quotes for the Defi bits and then PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER PROPERLY!

No loose bits, broken bits etc.

They deserve better.

Ive had a look around some sites but cant see the bits i need, They have been pulled and dragged out of cars previous to me getting them, Few new cables and the Link unit would sort the issue but god knows what price they will be or if they are still available

Are you running Syvecs or Simtek?

If you are running Syvecs you can wire all sensors into ECU and have plugged cheap laptop for monitoring

If you can afford better, avoid Prosport. There's been more threads on here about them than any other plus experience of them in my sons EVO and his G/F's ST150

Tried here?
http://shop.edoperformance.co.uk/defi-gauges-m-10.html

Ringing them might be best.

prosports are fine, cheap and do the job, but defis are the best.

I can safely say, anything to do with the old range of Defis is a fookn disaster, Defi Uk as in Tein UK dont have any older Link units now as they were phased out in 2010, any dealers ive contacted are the same, so it looks like its 2nd hand bits or say bye bye to them, Shame that the new advance control unit cannot use the old gauges, it would have been a nice easy upgrade.
From what ive been told today something like a 30% price increase by Defi has seen sales die with certain sellers.

I have been looking at the New Prosport EVO Lcd range, they look very nice, a bit fast and the future but different never the less, but i am finding mixed reviews on the Prosport gauges.. so dont know, looked at the Stack Pro, and they look very boring and dated and are getting up on Defi money

the prosport stepper gauges are the best of there range, allow you to set peak warnings on them. i have them in mine for 2 yrs and work perfect.
just upgraded to a set of defis i couldnt say no to.

will see what there like fitted but i love my prosports.

can get the connectors for defi gauges on ebay all the time fella.
