Default My new JDM

After consultation with members on here on what car to go for and many weeks of searching I have finally bought myself a 2005 STI JDM.

Bought the car from Hurst cars in bedford from a guy called Max. Really nice bloke and very honest with a good appreciation on what a cars worth. He stocks some really nice kit aswell. Would highly reccomend as a trader.

Car has 36k on the clock with a full titanium exhaust. Couldn't be happier with it. Going in for a service and cambelt change next week along with a remap at Alan Jefferys. It's apparently running 320hp but I reckon it's more like 290-300. That's only going off what my 345hp Evo felt like. Can't wait to find out next week! Only downside is I have the dreaded suspension knock on the rear struts! But this shouldn't be hard to sort out.

I'll get some more recent pics when the weather clears up. My membership must also be due . Opinions most welcome.

It probably is more powerful than you think buddy, the twin scroll is very deceptive. You don't really know how fast your going until you look down at the speedo and think 'oh ****'...

Haha fair one. I'll let you know once I've had it on the rollers next week. Not sure what they are standard. It does pull from really low down the rev range though. On the motoway at around 70-80mph it pulls very very well. What would you 'guess' on BHP?

My old 54 plate Spec C was 290ish hp as standard, couple of simple mods took it to 375

If the rear suspension's knocking and you bought it from a dealer within the last six months, unless he told you about it and gave you a suitable discount, get him to fix it free of charge as he's obliged to do under the Sale of Goods Act.

Otherwise, it looks very good.

Nice motor, however the headlights should be clear on a JDM. Yours appears to have the orange bit in situ.

I think it may just be the orange bulbs not the silvertec ones.

Looks a good motor congrats

It was highlighted at the time and was taken into account when I made my offer. It's just gotton a lot worse very quickly.

I'm on it like a tramp on chips. Just trying to find some LED's that are bright enough.

Just had a look and it appears to be an orange lens. Like the look of yours better.

Thats odd

I've never seen a JDM with the orange wedge.

Everything else is right for a JDM (intercooler spray reservoir under the bonnet instead of in the boot, rear wash wipe, no fog light in the rear lights, tinted rear glass etc. etc.) just the front lights seem wrong. Are they HID's?

Nice car though, enjoy it!

Yes I think they are HID's. Just had a look for any signs of crash damage again. But I looked for this when I bought it and there didn't appear to be any. Possibly SVA install?

Maybe try to get hold of the previous owner via the log book (assuming the previous owner is in the UK)? They might be able to shed some light on the matter.

Might be as simple as one got damaged by a large stone or something and they replaced them with UK lights from a dealer instead of specifying JDM ones. If there is no sign of crash damage then I wouldn't be overly concerned.

It's a bit of messing about but the orange wedges can be removed.

Think I'll do that. Just for peace of mind. Thanks for the help.

Nice car that mate, seen it on hurst cars as I keep looking at the 2 white spec cs they have.

The rear fog light IMO I would mod it to fit in one of the rear clusters, make it look much neater

Thanks I'm really happy with it. I'm in the process of trying to find an LED that will fit but is also bright enough. Hard to find as it turns out.

Sounds good to me. I'm more of a swinger but if that's what the members on this forum do as a recreational hobby, then I'm all in

If the headlights are not HID they will more than likely have been changed when it went for the SVA as they fail them on HID lights, Most people just swap them back after the SVA test but possibly not in this case

HID's have an orange sticker on the bulb cup on the rear of the headlight

I am sure it is nothing to worry about most likely one has been broken and replaced both with UK ones as its hard to get hold of JDM lights, apparently its not too hard to de-tango the UK spec lights.

I have learnt alot over the past year about the JDM STi so if your after any advice drop me a message will be happy to help if i can.

Couldn't see an orange sticker but I'm pretty sure they are HID.

I feel your pain. I always end up with the big piece who came in the GX anyway!

Thanks for that mate. I do have one question though. I'm going to replace the rear struts at some point with OE ones. Are these the correct ones I'm after: http://www.camskill.co.uk/m10b0s2730..._02_on_WRX_STi

Many thanks
