My local Council do not Take responsibility for Damage, unless the pot hole was reported to them a Min of 24 hours previously.

I had a freiend who claimed for 4 tyres and a wheel as he * a wheel and tyre.

They refused to pay for 4 tyres on his scooby, Said they would only replace what was broken. so he had to do the others himself.

When i hit a pothole I got unlucky as thats when they informed me i was the first to report it and as Such am not entitled to claim as they were unaware of its presence, and their policy is final.

Fortunately it was not my scccoby, and i could get away with replacing a single Tyre.

My sister hit a pot hole last year in her golf and damaged her alloy wheel.
The council paid her for it. Think she just went into the local office, it was a long and drawn out process though.

Broxi has hit the nail on the head.......they can't repair it if they don't know about it.

Now i didnt know that,
i did however bend an alloy about 5 years ago and did claim, it was a long process, at first they would only pay for one wheel and tyre which i refused, i told them to get me a matching wheel and tyre which they could not do so they ended up paying for a full set, i also got the "your vans 4 years old so they are not worth the full retail price" to which i sent my reciept (3 months old)
after 9 months i did get paid out

If it was our council, they'd probably have it filled in before Monday. But they're probably the exception to the rule.

You could try here:

http://www.potholes.co.uk/

And see if it's already been reported.

At a crossing in the road a large edging slab was sticking up and I only noticed it as it hit my down pipe!

The damage was superfical but it was brand new and I pushed for the council to pay up.

Granted the next day the slab was gone and the hole filled but abot 2months later I had a letter from they saying they would not pay out.
