Default Washing my car....... Can I ???

Really want to wash my car tomorrow as after today's drive it's covered in dead flies.
We have a hose pipe ban here where I am so what can I do, am I allowed to use a bucket of water and/or watering can ???

Don't fancy a £1000 fine to be honest. What you chaps been doing ?

I thought the ban had been lifted (well in 19 areas anyway), come to Wales we've got way too much of the stuff here.

Is anyone using rain water via a water collection butt and then filtering the water?

at least for south east water a blue badge only allows someone with severe mobility problems to water the garden and plants, not wash a car.
I've been using my karcher pressure washer and drawing the water from a water butt, also works straight out the bucket

just use your hose pipe mate,it's my understanding that over the many many years of hose pipe bans only 1!! person has ever been given a fine

Thats not very public spirited! I'd rather the situation didnt get so bad I have to fetch water from a standpipe, so if everyone saves a little it will help. I remember a few years ago when I worked for the Environment Agency we were told not to wash our vehicles, that time we didnt even have a ban in force. Some of the lakes I fish round here have never been so low.

I never use a hosepipe to wash the car as we dont have an outside tap. I rinse it with a watering can first, wash as normal and then rinse as normal with a watering can. Its not really that big a deal unless your washing car miles from the tap/rainwater butt.

I always rinse with rainwater from the butt as I find it leaves less spots, me and Matty live in an area with really hard water.

What happens if you wash your car while its ontop of a drain? You could always argue that 90% of the water will return to the system lol.

I'd happily donate some of the Scottish weather if i could, you wouldnt need any hosepipe i tell you because its constantly p!shing down.

I have never used a hose pipe to wash the car anyway. Two bucket method then rinse with a bucket of clean water, then dry & polish. Job done.
