Default STi VS Prodrive Backbox

Hi guys,

Anyone know what difference in sound there is from a stock STi backbox (what I have) to the Prodrive ones?

Mines a 2007 (2.5ltr) Sti Limited Hawkeye and its currently really quiet, I really want some scooby burble however ideally I dont want it too loud (its the sound that I'm after rather than the loudness of it)

I'm getting a 100cel Sports cat downpipe fitted this weekend along with a Hayward & Scott Center pipe - do you think this would give me what I need sounds wise?

I'm trying to avoid an aftermarket backbox if possible as I'd imagine it would make it crazy loud so thinking the prodrive ones may be a good option for me (if theyre different sounding to the Sti ones)

Cheers

Prodrive back box adds more bass, take out the resonator and put a straight through in and you end up with a nice sound that is distinctive without being loud. Thats what i run

Prodrive box is definately louder that standard STI one, couple that with the H&S centre & 100CEL it will sound spot on... but without annoying your neighbourhood and giving you a headache on long journeys

To get 'that note' in the 2.5 it's all about what you do in the middle like beastie said. Keep your standard back box and with the changes you've proposed you'll be a happy man I reckon!

Brilliant - thanks for all of your advice people, taken onboard

I'm going to get the work I mentioned done then take it from there... May be on the lookout for a Prodrive backbox soon if it doesnt give me what I'm after sound wise. At least I wont need to worry about remapping if I do choose to change the backbox later too

Majorly looking forward to some scooby sound at last!
