I sold an mr2 turbo to a lad in germany. He had the car picked up on a trailer by a private company. I just filled out the relevant part for selling the car abroad and gave that part to the driver and just sent away the normal part to say I was no longer the owner in the uk. Never heard of having to photocopy/email the v5 before but that could have changed in the 5 years since I sold the car. Can't imagine an insurance company like dealing with photocopys tho as its not a valid document surely.

Cheers,
Melly

It's normal for a German buyer to want to see the logbook as they need info from it so that they can organise export papers.

Yup, nothing fishy here. It quite normal for foreign buyer to need a copy of the log book to arrange insurance. There has been several threads about this on SN and they have resulted in successful sales.
