Default Removing scratches from glass?

Hi,

Anyone know a good (preferably cheap as the headlights cost me naff all and I'm doing this project on a budget) to remove light to medium scratches from headlight glass?

If the headlights are actually glass then have had great results with this on a scratched windscreen.........

If they are actually plastic, then buffing compound can work.
