Default Fed up of this overboost problem

Hi

I'm seeking some help with my problem.

I have a 2000 wrx bug.

Mods

Decat system
Pipercross induction
Remap 2008

Since owning the car I have basically got it back to how it was when mapped in 2008.

I removed an aftermarket dump valve back to standard.
Change a dodgy induction kit back to pipercross which it was mapped with.
Removed a manual boost valve which I'm not sure why the previous owner fitted as the cars been mapped.

I've had this issue with overboost always in in 3rd 4th 5th and around 3000rpm
When I put my foot down.

So

I first tried cleaning maf and boost solenoid still overboost.
Tried standard air box still overboost.
Now replaced maf was all good for 3 days over boosting again.
I've now fitted another boost solenoid to see if that helped but nope.

So what now where do I go from here I just want to enjoy the car.

Any help would be great

Cheers

Stu

Had overboost problem couple days ago...
Runing classic v4 sti with td0516g 1 bar actuator.
I've by passed my 3 port boost solnoid to check if it wasn't stuck by connecting the pipe rom turbo straight to actuator. It was steady 1.1 bar which means there was no issue with actuator but with the solenoid it self. I had another 3 port, i've put it on and the issue was gone. Give a call to Rich @ FB Tuning and he will give you some sugestions for sure. He did to me, and it's sorted now.

I would say it's the wg actuator. Had a similar problem on my ex Alfa 155Q4.

If it over revs it sounds like clutch slip not over boost

I did think about the clutch but wouldn't that happen in all gears and at lower revs ?

No not to start with. generally starts slipping in the higher gears first as thats when the most load is on the clutch.

symtoms are revs rising quickly as car comes on boost, but car doesnt move as fast as it should

no it wouldnt,

overboost/ surge is totally different to clutch slip

clutch slip is where the revs rise quickly but you dont actually go anywhere, its worse in 5th going uphill and you put your foot down

overboost is obviously boosting too much and can be worse in 4th and 5th and in cold weather, surge as i know it is where the turbo can`t hold a certain pressure and either goes up or down so if you are trying to drive at a constant speed you get a juddering and a chatter noise from the turbo because it cant find a constant pressure

Yes I would say a slipping clutch as well.
There is no increase in speed when the revs increase.

..

Because the new MAF would be on a ECU learn phase and probably producing less bhp.
