Why Did You Go For Big Power?
Was sitting down bored the other day and got round to thinking. Dangerous i know
So the question is...... Why did you go for big power from your Impreza? Ok i understand company demo cars and race car builds but, what about people that just use the car on the road? Why do you need lots of power?

I fell in love with my WRX and decided that I was going to keep her as my weekend toy, It seems silly to have a “fast car” as a weekend car so I decided she really needs to be super sonic.
Its knowing you have the power rather than using it for me.

Calvin, with mine it was because if I was going for an engine rebuild then it was 'worth it' at the time, although if I hasn't of been 'forced' into it then I wouldn't have gone down the route I have.
The next car I have will be staying standard other than a few tweaks.

What a silly question.
I ask you wrx287.... why would you buy a car with a reputation for speed and then frequent a web site for the pursuit of extra power and ask that question?
I have owned R33 gtr, R34 GTR, V8 STI, Evo9, ZX9R, now a V9 STI..... STI & Evo most usable daily.
I don't even tie my shoe laces in the morning for the possible adrenalin rush whilst falling over!!

I think too, that modifying to increase power is far cheaper than constantly changing your car to make it faster.
You can also add to this foray by improving the handling somewhat. So in effect, you'll eventually feel like you've got a new and improved vehicle.

For me it was the fact I wanted to see what you could do with these cars.
When I first purchased my current car it was sold as a 330bhp car yet once I put it on the rollers it was in reality 260bhp.
So the mods began to where I am today.
It's an addiction, no more no less.

It's a buzz that once its got you then you can't get away. I decided to let someone take the hit then bought one already running big power and then put my stamp on it. Recently picked up a hatch sti and its under warranty so no engine mods of a year but still that gives me 12 months to sort the rest out lol although I did say I wasn't going to touch this one ;-)

"And this is a general Subaru forum not a tuning forum".......
I think you'll find its both.
People seldom come here to talk about how they are going to keep their cars standard. I don't think there's a forums for "Clean & Boring"
Hey Ho.... each to their own.

I got my present Scoob with 450bhp, had to put my own touch on it and that included an extra 100 horses
If you ask anyone that knows me I get bored very fast and have supplied most of Surrey scoobies with parts, last turbo wasn't even on for 1000 miles

Yes I am one of them but yours is getting really sorted how. I am only running 350 at this time but for a road car that is OK but the prob is with a scooby you are always thinking of the next stage there is just no hope
