Bug/Blobeye Wagon & Saloon differences - cosmetic only?
I've taken a bit of an interest in bug/blobeye wagon's lately and have had a bit of a lookaround, search, etc but not found out loads of info.
I can see that cosmetically they are different (obviously the wagon has a hatch ) and the lack of the wide arches (why did Subaru not put the wide arches on the wagon?) - but are there any mechanical differences?
Suspension, engine/turbo, general spec? With the wider arches of the saloon, do they have a wider track?
I'm talking WRX's, I gather STI wagon's are quite rare.
I do prefer the look of the saloon in terms of it's stance/wider arches, but I do like estates, plus they are a little more subtle. Not only that, I've switched away from large estates and miss the load carrying ability.
On a side note, is a £3-4k budget for a bug or blob wagon fairly reasonable? Looks to be looking around on PH or AT.
Any info/advice appreciated

Yes the saloon has a wider track other than they they have same engine box etc.
Exhausts coilovers etc all bolt straigt on
Front ends can be swapped for wide saloon versions easily the rears do take a bit more commitment though lol

Hi there
As above Lewis said, difference is only at cosmetic(saloon have wider arches at front and at rear),suspension on wagon is narrower than on the saloon, engine is usually WRX/EJ205(Bug STi have EJ207) and JDM wagons have EJ205 with AVCS and yes all exhausts, coilovers and engines will straight fit from saloon on the wagon/estate.
We are bought wagon just due we are love look of the wagon/estate..
If you are looking for good wagon, this guy(Rez) selling Blobeye WRX wagon with STi bits, looking like good example
