Unhappy clutch issue!!

HI guys ive got a 2000 2L sport wagon and my clutch has just decided to go!

went to work this morning and it was fine no abnormality and problems! got in it after work and the bite point had sunk really low! managed to get it home and on advice of a mechanic friend turned the ignition off and pumped the peddle. To no avail its not responded and if anything its got worse now cant get it in gear! so annoyed at the min its untrue!

Just spoke to Mr Clutch and they reckon it could be the pipe split but there is no sign of a leek were I was parked at work so im stumped!!

Any clues??

I think there is a return spring round the back of the engine block. This may have snapped or fallen off.

Check the fluid level in the reservoir - if it is leaking it will be low or non existent.

Well after further review the car needs a new clutch which is 500 sheets more than I've got!

£500 for a clutch fitted to a sport sounds like a lot to me, shop around at the specialists.
