my first subaru! newbie
hello! quite new to this forum, joined when looking for a classic. got one a few weeks ago and thought id start a little thread.
bought this as a little 25th birthday present to myself, insurance was £400 cheaper as soon as i turned 25 so i picked it up on my actual birthday! managed to get it cheap, it failed mot on a lower arm bush, still had 3 weeks ticket left so got it home and the bolt was loose. tightened it up, replaced a brake light bulb. took it for another mot! and it passsed with no advisories! :P well chuffed with it so far. have always liked these. probably from playing the old playstation games. haha
here it is as i got it
first of many fuel fill ups!!
**** plates gone! and sti/import style pink badge. not 100% on this yet.
notice the silver wing mirrors, got them on ebay for a tenner! mint, complete with glass, brackets and motors!
got the standard back box for a tenner off ebay and the decat centre pipe also off ebay from the guy with the mirrors for £40
the new (to me lol) exhaust against the custom powerflow/proflow stainless exhaust. will be up forsale soon, not sure what to ask for it????
standard twin pipes. a lot quieter (bit too quiet for me now lol)
thats it for now. loving it apart from the fuel costs! hahaha not sure where to go next really, wheels and suspension are hexpensive. got a mk1 golf project that's forever draining my funds...

Welcome! Nice example, many hours of good fun ahead. The refuelling costs are quite large but if you look after her, Subarus are generally reliable, (apart from the water leaks....doh!)

a little update! havent been on for a while but made a few changes to the scoobs!:
red laminx'd the rear clusters! i think they've turned out sweet! gives it a much more cleaner look imho
started by trimming off the raised lettering using a stanley blade.
then sanded with a fine grit to smooth where i had trimmmed the lettering. degreased and washed the lights
cut the vinyl to a rough shape, i find it easier to work with than a massive sheet and applied using a soft cloth and an old hair drier smoothing it out from one side to the other.
then cut around the edges with the stanley blade leaving enough to mold the vinyl round the edes of the light so no edges can be seen. used the hair drier and an old bank card for this.
im really pleased with it, looks slightly more jap. also havent seen another classic with complete red rear lights. the indicators still flash orange as well!

decided to start refurbing the wheels one by one as well. theyre not quite profession standard but theyre 100 times better than what they looked like before!! so far done the two fronts as they were really starting to flake. sanded them back and feathered all the edges back, primed them
then flatted them and sprayed them with a can of wheel silver from good old halfrauds!!
then laquered them! forgot to get a pic of them before they went on the car, so here's a slightly dirty pic of them from today! the drips are just water not my terrible spraying!! haha
