Question

Got a mate whos looking a leasing a scoob, the only prob is that it works out expensive due to the residual being quoted at 10-11K.

Anyone else been quoted a similar figure for a leased motor. Its based on a 3 year lease period for 10K per annum. Sounds very low residual to me.

If anyone knows of a sensible leasing company, please let me know. The current company want approx £350 per month, with approx 2K deposit.

Both I and a business associate are currently leasing cars on a "lease finance" deal through AMA Group in Blackpool. The car is costing £330 per month (ex maintenance) over three years with a residual of about £11k. Both cars have metallic paint and aircon and the leases started in March last year on MY99 turbos.

We were advised not to lease this car but to buy on lease finance because residuals on sccobies are so strong. I don't fully understand the financial differences but the deal is at the end of three years we own the car but owe the residual so can sell it and keep the difference, trade it etc. There is also a stipulation to pay the finance co 2% of the sale proceeds.

It seemed like a good idea at the time - I guess you never know until year three is up!

Cool

Robski,

I lease purchase my Scoob as a private owner from Lancaster sevenoaks.

Put £3800 down and financed the rest over 3 years with £9300 balloon. I pay £360 a month which is not a good APR at the moment. I have recently arranged finance for a P1 through General Guarantee Finance in Southend who are offering decent rates at the moment. They should have an office near you, give them a call on 01702 354123 for a number.

Hope this helps

Try the Freeways web site. They are a car leasing co. and last time I checked they quoted £273 per month over 3 yrs, with a residual of £9600. This assumed a deposit of £6000 and 20k miles per yr.

Incidentally, I have just insured my new RB5 with Direct Line. They were £500 cheaper than anyone else, with a £350 excess. For info, i am 24, with 6 yrs no claims (protected) and require class 1 business cover.

Hope this helps,

Skelbo.

£10-11k residual is pretty standard based on my experience. What will determine your monthly payments is how much you put down and the APR.

I've negotiated 8.9% APR. Does anybody know of a better deal?

Mines leased thru my company via Dial, its a fully comp package (tax, maint, AA, insurance, full international breakdown, 3 years ,75k miles, etc) and costs about £550 per month.

Car is MY00 Turbo with AC and 6 CD changer. I know the co we use arn't the cheapest but they are very good, though I don't know if they do privtae leases - email me if you want more info v697dmo@yahoo.co.uk
