I cant believe it but a couple of hours ago my Scoob was car-jack from the ASDA Pilsworth car park in Bury, in daylight ( 7-30 pm ) at knife point. Just got back from giving statements to CID.

I had parked the car just in front of the store and went in to pick up my wife and daughter, my son (20) stayed in the car. Next thing he comes running in to tell me that three low-lifes jumped in and held a knife to him. He managed to jump out of the car as they sped off.

I am eternally grateful that he escaped unharmed, but PLEASE everyone be careful and extra vigilent. I had heard about these sort of things happening but you just dont think it will happen to you...until it does.

It is a silver UK turbo N230 CJA, pre-face lift. Has distintive modified front grill with pink 'I' badge.

If it is recovered I will post notification immediately.

If you see it about please ring the cops cos these guys are armed.

My friends wife managed to get away from 3 scum in a car park on Friday afternoon in there WRX, even as she drove off they were throwing objects at the windows to get in. This was where she worked so she has now quite her job in fear of them waiting for her even if she is not in the Scooby, really shook her up badly and again was in Manchester.

Sorry to hear about your car being car jacked its not a good world if people keep doing this sort of thing but as i say, prevention is better than cure and with cars like ours then anti hijack and tracking systems are a must!
I too live in GMC and the first thing i did when i got my scoob was to put as much security on it as possible incase anything like this ever happened to me
I know that this isnt your fault, more of a case of wrong place, wrong time and im glad that your son was unhurt but it should be a warning to us all that there are people out there willing to hurt us or our families for our cars and with the availibility of tracking systems etc the better chance of scum like these being caught!

There have been 2 car-jack's in Nottingham over the past few days, one was a woman in a Merc and the other was a bloke in a Honda.
Ive always been worried about where i park my cars but now it looks as though youve got to think about where you drive them as well

What was the discription of the Jackers ?

I had my evo Jacked about 8 weeks ago. Luckily it was recovered 1 hour later.

Would be interested in what they looked like.

Really sorry to hear about that Stratman. Good that no one was hurt in the incident and that the rest of the family weren't directly involved.

I keep telling myself these are rare occurences, but things are now becoming ridiculous.

Last week I went for a wander around a used car lot. As it was cold my wife remained in the car. I took the keys with me, really just a reflex action more than a security precaution.

If she'd been approached I don't expect they'd believe she didn't have the keys and the consequences don't bear thinking about. Do I now lock her in the car or just leave the keys for any passing chancer

I now going to get Security Tint fitted to the windows. Anyone in Manchester/Cheshire recommend a company/interested in a group discount?

HKS,

Yeah, one piece. They nicked radar detector, coat, passport, wallet. 2 damaged front alloys, scratched down both sides. no panel damage just paint work needed.

Interior was un-touched, even left my stereo and boost gauge alone.

Managed to get an upgrade on the wheels had 18" 6 spoke compomotive alloys in white fitted instead of the standard enkeis.

Tracker monitor worked well, police were informed under 5 mins of car been taken.

They recovered it under the hour, think it was taken purely for fun I believe.

Thumbs down

Sorry to hear the bad news, I hope you get the car back in good condition.

I've seen stories like this before on here but it kinda brings it home when it's someone you've met (and sold stuff to).

We've got be careful out there, and not just in scoobs because they jack anything these days.....

Stratman,
Really sorry to hear this. I hope your son gets over what was obviously a very distressing incident.
Have the police studied the CCTV for the store to see which car they got out of? There was probably a 4th member in another (probably stolen) car with them. They wouldn't have walked to the car park.

Similar thing happened to my boss. Got into his boxster at the station, 30 secs later hes rammed from behind by a 4X4, gets out, someone jumps out the hedge and speeds off.

It turns up in hotel carpark a few days later, it turns out the scum bags park up the car and keep an eye on it. If its still in the carpark in a few days they decide its got no tracker and carry on using it.

Has this made the local papers (eg MEN) or news bulletins on TV or radio?

I doubt it will. It keeps "crime" figures down and is not seen as important as "stealing" golf *****.

Also can I suggest to any of you posting on here that you:-

a) don't use your real name and
b) don't publish where you are.

It is very easy to locate your address for free via 192.com.

Don't think the "low life scum" haven't nicked computers they can use.

You can bet your bottom dollar these people have seen you there before at a similar time or that they followed you there.

Banshi, I don't believe this detritus are "chancers" (although I take your point and it is worrying). They have "better" things to do than hang around waiting for an Impreza to turn up.

Not good, glad you are okay.

Worrying as I often leave my wife and daughter in the car, either with or without the keys......... maybe I should make sure I leave them with the car now.

Was it a 4door? I have a 5door which gives the impression it would be fine but I could be very mistaken.

Hope the Police find it in one piece and arrest the scum..
