Default Exhaust options for 2.5 Hawkeye STi?

I haven't seen anything for sale on here these last couple of months. Do 2.0 Blob eye exhausts fit, or are they completely different?

I think they are different, sold my old system a few years back and had a few issues with it not fitting the guys Blob!

Downpipe and front section are slightly different.
The 2.5 STi downpipe is slightly shorter and the front section slightly longer.

However, the total length is the same as the downpipe and front section of the 2.0 STi/WRX.
So if you get a downpipe and front section for a 2.0 STi or the more common longer downpipe that deletes the front section, it will marry up to the 2.5 STi centre section fine.

Centre section and rear box are the same.

However I would advise either a 2.75" or 3" system for the 2.5 STi.

Well I am trying my best to find one now

So from what you say, if I see a complete 2.0 system, I can actually fit it fine and use it?

That's great, thanks. I've been told I can fit a 2.0 Prodrive sports cat to my existing standard STi exhaust, but the way you've explained it sounds like that's not actually going to work?

Prodrive didn't fit a sports cat to the 2.5 so you need to check if it includes the front section or if the sports cat is a single pipe mating with the centre section, therefore the same length as the combined pipes of a 2.5 (hope that makes sense)

I think so! But it's a 2.0 Sports Cat as like you say, they didn't fit one to the 2.5.

Do you know if it's better than the cat fitted to the 2.5 STi?

most newage systems fit.
the only backbox that will not fit is a angled exit as it will foul the diffuser.

you really have to decide how loud you want it.
nur spec loud is hard to live with day to day.
prodrive is slightly to tame.
what are you after?

I am probably going to go with the Prodrive sports cat and then some sort of 3/3.5" cat back system. I actually like the standard STi exhaust, it just needs to burble a bit more and perhaps a very slight increase in volume. As the car is a Spec D, I kind of want something more in keeping with the character of the car than something that's loud for the sake of it.

I may invest in one of the Scoobyclinic cat back systems, but don't know much about them at present.

Can anyone tell me also, is the Prodrive Sports Cat the same for the WRX and the STi?

If you want slightly louder than the standard back box, then you will love the Prodrive one. I picked up a mint second hand unit for £80 including delivery and it sounds great. I too didn't want a loud exhaust and this fitted the bill perfectly. If you keep a look out on this site, ebay and gumtree you'll soon find a good example to buy.

Old thread I realise , but just after some clarification. I have a blobeye sti , noticed my back box blowing a little after my track day at oulton , I've found a prodrive backbox from a 2006 sti .. Should it be a straight fit ?

Thanks , Chris

The Prodrive cat was fitted to the STi only, the WRX PPP only removed the centre cat.

Top man thanks :-)

I have a decat downpipe on a otherwise standard exhaust , shouldn't be too noisy should it ? Can't imagine it will be, but Ido like the fact that its quick but relatively quiet as it is..

Nah prodrive box is quite quiet on idle & low revs, then lets out a nice deep rumble when pushing on
