widetrack blobeye or classic?
So this might seem a strange question as they are very different in age and looks etc but i have always wanted an Impreza and originally the classic turbo 2000 got me interested but never got one, now i like the blobeye with widetrack but they obviously cost more to buy.
At the minute the wife and i are living with her parents after moving jobs so we have extra cash (although we are saving for another house) so i thought i might get athe widetrack but only spend around £6500 but then i thought with saving for a house and me maybe selling it in a year or two i thought i might lose to much so i have gone to thinking if i can get a classic with service history etc for £2000 or less and then i sell in a year or two it shouldnt have depreciated as much as long as i look after it.
What are your thoughts and opinions? How much do you think a bargain buy widetrack £6500 ish will depreciate over the next year or two, will the classic always be sort after and hold its value around £2000?

The problem is that a £6500 widetrack will need a grand spending on it to iron out the issues it has.
There is one in our for sale section for instance for your budget but it does need the best part of a grand throwing at it.
You may find a lovely example for 6.5K but you'll need to search bloody hard.

you will lose money on every impreza, buy one you want and enjoy it.
both cars will be great.
if its an occasional use car i.e. for a weekend blast id go for a classic
a newage car is more comfortable for everyday use though.

i know a widetrack for that price will be tough to find but i am willing to wait to get the right one, plus i need to save up a bit anyway. I do like the idea of the newer one in case i end up loving it and keeping it longer but i thought that if i bought a nice classic and love it too much to sell i can justify keeping it as a weekend toy as its not worth as much to sell where as the newer one would have to go to bring the cash in!

Why ask us for our opinion, everyone has different views of what they want from a car. I have had both newage and classic cars and I personally prefer classic but that's not to say you will. You are best off taking both out for a test drive and making your own mind up

i know it is a personal opinion but just wanted some ideas and opinions from people who have owned them as i never have. I am just hoping that i dont bottle it and get something more sensible as this is probably the last chance i can get one before kids and our next house etc and dont want to regret never owning one!!

Spend 3grand on a classic and go have some fun. If it all goes **** up or the market drops even lower than it is now then it's not the end of the world.
With 7K plus wrapped up in a car you won't enjoy it as you will always be worrying how your gonna afford to fix it if anything was to happen.

I have seen some others that are a similar price and actually have lower mileage, seen some with between 70-80k but they are completely standard which on one hand is good but i would like the high spoiler, crystal lights, p1 splitter etc so would end up spending extra on all that. This looks like it has been well looked after and has only had 3 owners with service history, bearing this in mine will 92,000 be a problem ? How long do turbos last for and how often do the cambelts need doing?

I think if i do get an impreza it will be a classic just in case i need to sell in a year or 18months i shouldnt lose to much but if i can afford to keep as a toy i will (not told the mrs that idea yet though)
