Default Oil leak on 06 sti HELP

Hi all,

I have a 2006 2.5 sti with ppp with 33k on clock, It also has a set of Tein super street coil overs, no other mods.

The other night on the way home from work I had a play with a gsxr 750, (I won) when I got home it really smelt of burning oil, so in the morning I had a look under bonnet and everything looked as it should, had a look underneath and there is oil dripping off the back of the belly pan not a lot but it's there.

Any ideas of where it might be coming from and is there any Scooby specialist that I can trust near the Maidstone, Kent area.

Have you had the undertray off and located where the oil is actually coming from?

If you can remove the belly pan, get some newspaper on the floor and having checked the oil level let the engine idle to see if you can spot where the oil is dripping from. Rocker cover gaskets, oil sump plug washer are all areas that oil can drip from.

The modine itself can leak too (rare but it happened to me).

Oil leak now sorted, it was the sump plug washer that a certain Subaru main dealer forgot to put on when it was last serviced less than 600mls ago.

I ended up taking it to SVA Imports, I just turned up there out the blue and ask them if they could have a look, with in an hour of arriving I was on my way home with leak sorted and oil filter, oil and the sump plug. Cost me £72 with vat which I was well chuffed with. Then I ended up back there 3 days later and had a exhaust fitted, it's a copy of the hks system, but they showed me a hks system and the only difference was it didn't have hks written on it, it was identicle, and the best bit was it was only £500 + vat all fitted.

She now sounds like a proper scooby and spits flame, well impressed.....

I would highly recommend SVA imports there spot on, and they also race in the euro drift champ and time attack champ, the time attack car an evo vi with 800bhp, they really now there stuff when it comes to jap motors.

Anyway enough of biging them up, thanks to all that replied. :-)

Why didn't you take it back to the Main Dealer and get it fixed for free?

I ask because a while ago i read in a thread about cleaning them and some said its better to just replace. I wasn't sure what exactly it was so googled it. I found several places selling them just only up to 2005 cars making me think they were not fitted to the 2.5 engine.
