I drove one in about 2000. Gutless, poor handling and suspension that bottomed out frequently ..... ahhhh rose tinted glasses lol

My mates brother had one of these, must have been 14 years ago, we had some wicked fun it it, if I Remember you could switc from 4 to 2 wheel rear drive whilst in motion.

Fond memories of that little car.

I had one as a courtesy car a couple of times. Nasty.

If I recall correctly, it has 4WD but all the differentials are open, so if one wheel loses traction it spins up and the rest just stop. In other words, pointless.

Spray some mig at the rear and centre diffs and head for the woods! :-)

Ive had a fair bit of time playing in one and agree, as a standard car with open diffs theres no comparison to subarus typical AWD (viscous centre and lsd rear).

BUT, they dont take much work to make them RWD and sub 900kg!

Sonic, no you cant stick an ej20 in it! theyre a transverse straight 4 and not a longitudinal flat 4! pretty much the only subaru that doesnt have a flat 4 boxer! :-(

The justy uses a viscous center differential so does not send all the power to the wheels with no grip it's much like the scooby system just with a crapper way of distributing power. It sends the power to the wheels with grip . See below a copied explanation.

In this case, all wheels are powered at all times. Viscous coupling is integrated into the center differential. Central differential distributes power to all wheels and lets them turn at different speeds while cornering. When excessive wheelspin occurs on one of the axles, viscous coupling locks the differential and equalizes the speeds of both axles. Torque is transferred to wheels that have traction. This is a full-time all wheel drive system.

The early ones had cvt with a button on the gear ****, the later had a viscous centre diff and open rear and front diffs. It's similar to the scoobys set up (classic) just with out a rear LSD.

Yup, had a Nasty as a loan car whilst scoob was in for service work, horrid, underpowered, poor handling and airfix build quality!

Have owned both versions and loved them both, definitely nothing like a bigger scoob but what do you expect when they were built to be granny mobile. Great fun if you didn't care if you damaged them and gave them all the revs they could muster.
